Michelle O’Connor, a longstanding corporate veteran, was named president and chief executive officer of Meditech. Howard Messing, who is now vice chairman of Meditech board, will hand over the reins to O’Connor, who has worked at the Westwood, Massachusetts-based electronic health record vendor in a variety of roles for more than three decades.
The chief operating officer was O’Connor’s most recent position at the IT vendor. She started as an implementation programmer in 1988. After that, she worked her way up through the company’s management and executive levels, eventually becoming vice president of product development and EVP, among other positions.
In the last month, there has been a lot of activity among the C-suites of EHR companies. Cerner stated in May that it had begun a search for a new CEO. NextGen announced identical plans in June. Connor noted that their healthcare partners have been going through a terrible time, and it has been an honor to assist them in any way possible. They are thrilled about their accomplishments. They’ve stepped up to the plate. As a result, they’ve already witnessed firsthand how advances like cloud computing and virtual care can benefit clinicians and the communities they serve.
